What are we learning in Fifth Grade?

Fifth grade musicians are building their song and folk dance repertoire.  We are working to use our best singing voice while maintaining good posture and breath control.

We have reviewed quarter note, paired eighth notes and the quarter rest.  We have studied the music and life of Beethoven and discussed his influence on music and pop culture of today.

Fifth graders learned about Jerome Kern and his influence on music for the stage and screen.  We had a classroom and school visit from the Austin Jazz Workshop.  Students participated in improvisation and listening activities.

Some instant hits in fifth grade I'm Gonna Dance All Day, Tideo, Dr. Knickerbocker and Chiquitibum.
