Our second chat was held on November 22, 2010 in our music classroom. Students brainstormed questions to ask Bruce Williams, principal violist for the ASO. Students chatted with him and heard him play several new and familiar tunes on the viola. We even saw a side by side comparison of a viola and violin - it was fascinating!
We were inspired by Bruce's responses and were impressed by his playing of the viola. We were treated to a private concert with a great musician! We are looking forward to chatting with another member of the ASO later this year!
Here is a sample of some of our insightful questions:
- Who or what inspired you to play the viola?
- Does anyone else in your family play music?
- How many times a day do you practice?
- What are some of your favorite holiday tunes to play?
- How do you feel when you perform in front of a large audience?
- What advice do you have to offer us fourth grade musicians?
