First grade musicians practiced their aural awareness of beat while getting into the Halloween spirit! First, we listened to a melody and kept the steady beat on our knees. Next, we were able to determine the number of beats that were in the phrase. Our next step was to arrange the jack-o-lanterns to represent the beats in the phrase. Finally, we were able to sing the phrase while pointing to the objects.
