Third grade musicians at Reilly have been practicing their compositional skills! We have written both rhythmic and melodic compositions throughout our music classes.
After determining the number of beats for our compositions, students wrote pieces utilizing all of their known rhythmic elements including: quarter note, paired eighth notes, quarter rest, half note and four sixteenth notes.
After deciding the rhythm and melodic contour of the piece, students wrote their composition out. Next, we performed our motives while using hand signs. We practiced and then sang them for our class!
