First Grade Music!

This has been a busy week in our music classroom!  First grade musicians made visual representations of Rain Rain to demonstrate their knowledge of one and two sounds on a beat.

First, we sang and pointed to a representation of Rain Rain.  Next, we used our aural skills to answer questions.  This helped us to identify the number of sounds we performed on each beat. Finally, we worked to create a visual representation of Rain Rain and sang the song while pointing to our pictures.

First grade musicians also practiced improvising high, higher and low sounds this week.  After improvising, students wrote their motives and showed the contour of the melodies.  Each student then sang their composition and showed the sounds on their bodies.
